COMMITTEES

Committees shall be created by the Council to advance a broad range of topics relating to school readiness, early care and education issues, and to support the work of the Community Action Plan VSRC.  Each committee Chairperson must be a voting member of the Council and will be appointed by committee members with the exception of the School Readiness Program Committee.  Committee membership may include non-Council members.  Committee members can join for a specified task or time limited project. 

 The Committees may include the following:

 Executive Committee  

• Oversees all operations of the Council. The Executive Committee shall include the Chairs of the Council, the Chairpersons of each committee and the fiduciary agent.  The Executive Committee must be voting members of the Council.

Professional Development Committee  

• Create and promotes professional development opportunities.  The Professional Development Committee may offer opportunities for local providers to enhance program quality.

 Strategic Communications Committee  

• This committee will focus on internal and external communications and create broad public awareness to support the purposes of the Council.

 Parent Engagement Committee  

• The Parent Engagement Committee will help to develop parent leaders in efforts to advocate on behalf of young children in our community.  In addition, this committee will help bring information to parents on early care and education and support parent involvement on all levels in the community.  

School Readiness Program Committee  

• The School Readiness Program Committee will be co-chaired by the Mayor’s Designee and Superintendent of School’s Designee and will include the Executive Director(s) of School Readiness Programs contracted to provide school readiness slots for Vernon .
• This committee will oversee all legislatively mandated requirements of the School Readiness Program including: reports, evaluations and grant writing.
